The California Department of Insurance website is a great tool to use when acquisition hunting, recruiting, renewing your insurance license or checking the latest news in the industry. You should pay particular attention to
the check license status page to research agencies and individual agents. You can search license status by name or license number.
If you follow a few links in the license status, you can find actions against individuals and/or agencies. You can see their issue date, agent appointments and continuing education requirements. This is a great tool for your HR department to reference your employees’ continuing education requirements.
Make a habit out of checking the site when researching acquisition candidates or interviewing for a position in your agency. You can sign up for newsletters and get press releases sent to you via email.
