Maintaining your Insurance Blog is Imperative for your SEO Efforts

Insurance Agencies and other businesses that drive the most traffic to their sites take several proactive measures to ensure the traffic is consistent. By now, hopefully you know that SEO means Search Engine Optimization. This means that your site has links, keywords, video and other enhancements that search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, YouTube) recognize and therefore push your site to the top of their pages. There are at least 5-10 things you should do to optimize your site, and one of them is blogging. One of the key elements to a successful site is fresh content.  On a very basic level, the search engines recognize fresh relevant content and say “this is a site we want our users to see when searching for X”. X could be “Auto Insurance Kansas City” or “Plumbers Insurance Torrance, Ca”. If you don’t blog now, start by adding a blog to your website and start reading other industry blogs. Another great idea is to make it an agency project. Ask each person in the agency to contribute 1-2 blogs monthly so all of the work isn’t one persons responsibility. Insurance Agency Blogs should be 200-500 words each with a link every 100-150 words or so. I could write a book on blogging and might start a series on best practices if enough readers reach out and request it. Most importantly, do something! And remember, blogging alone will not help your phones ring, will not help your people sell, nor fix other challenges in your agency. Blogging is simply one area you need to make a part of your Blended Marketing Strategy.
